I love people……no, let me rephrase that, I love to help people. Try again Claire. I love to help people understand that they create every part of their lives. Our lives are shaped by the deep seated beliefs we have about ourselves, whether negative or positive. Unfortunately the deep seated negative beliefs mostly outweigh the positive ones and cause mild to severe problems in people’s lives. I designed and built my website to help people get to the bottom of their beliefs through online courses and one-to-one video calls with me. I spent a huge amount of time and a bit of money through social media, pin-pointing my target audience. Turns out that its 95% women between ages 38-56 so therefore I redesigned my website and tailored it towards my target audience.
Now let me get to my point. Why did I title this blog post I’m Here, I’m Here? Marketing has always been my ‘professional’ thing, always has been, always will be, I really enjoy it. BUT and here’s the but. In the self-help and personal growth industry it’s becoming increasingly harder to be heard above the clamour, above the shouting and the attention sought by other so called experts and specialists. All of whom are trying to ‘make people’s lives better’, ‘make people richer’, offer this course, that course, join my webinar, sign up for this, sign up for that, download 50 reports on why you should be earning $1M per year and so on and so forth! In the end potential clients; people that really do need help are put off by all of the desperate attempts to attract them, it has just become white noise.
Now rather than concentrating on healing people and writing my second book, I find myself having to sit and think about some ingenious marketing ways that I can make myself heard above the roar from everyone else! Erm, how about this? “I cordially invite you to visit my website, if you should so wish, but only if you have the time, I would hate to be too pushy.” Being British, I could also apologise and try “Awfully sorry to bother you, but could I possibly help to heal you?” Or like Lucy in the peanuts cartoons, maybe I should just put up a stand in the street : )
